Anna Kiss’s documentary brings Cahokia out of obscurity into the light.  It demonstrates Cahokia’s special place in U.S. history and shows a fascinating piece of pre-Columbian culture.  It proposes an original look at the cultural achievements of North America’s pre-Columbian populations, a history quite dynamic, progressive and unique in its expression.

This tells the story of Cahokia’s ascent to power, but more importantly, it documents a human experience.  It looks inside minds and souls of a people who built the first and only ancient civilization north of the Rio Grande. In Search of the Cahokian Gods and Heroes: Mysteries of Mound 34 is produced for the national television audience.   This story of Cahokia is based on professional archaeological records, interviews with the Cahokia researchers, and consultations with other scientists, including Native American scholars.  The documentary is scheduled for post-production.

Anna Kiss is a Chicago-based documentary film producer and director.  She is also an archaeologist and a journalist.  For the past several years, she has worked on a historically-significant film about the Cahokia Indian Mounds in Southern Illinois, the largest ancient settlement in the United States. She received her M.A. degree in Archaeology from Warsaw University, Poland.  She received her M.A. in Broadcast Journalism and her B.A. in Science Reporting and Writing, both from Columbia College.
