The Mulligan Mosaics Big Band is a 13-piece jazz band, founded and lead by baritone saxophonist, composer, and arranger Ted Hogarth, with the mission of preserving and performing the music of Gerry Mulligan, and those composers and arrangers whom he influenced, including members of the band. The band consists of some of the top jazz musicians and educators in Chicago. In addition to performing, the band has an educational component. More information is available at mulliganmosaics.com.

The Mulligan Project has several aspects. The goals of the project are:

• To digitize Gerry Mulligan’s compositions and to make Gerry Mulligan’s original compositions and the edited version available to the general public, at no cost.
• To perform compositions and arrangements by Gerry Mulligan and those he influenced including members of The Mulligan Mosaics Big Band.
• To educate young musicians about Gerry Mulligan’s life, music, and his various contributions to music.
• To raise funds to support the creation of new compositions and arrangements influenced by Gerry Mulligan.

Ted Hogarth formed The Mulligan Mosaics Big Band to perform the music of Gerry Mulligan. In addition to performing Mulligan’s music the project is multifaceted—digitization of compositions, educational outreach, composition competition—with no projected end date.
